DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for orchestrating political maneuvers through the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker's office to issue a disqualification show-cause notice to ruling alliance legislator Karunas. Stalin characterized the move as a desperate, unconstitutional drama engineered by the Chief Minister to artificially reduce assembly numbers and evade facing a mandatory democratic floor test in the House.
Stalin pointed out that the Palaniswami government had lost its legislative majority long ago and continued in office purely through procedural manipulation and judicial delays. Utilizing the high constitutional office of the Speaker as a partisan instrument to intimidate dissenting legislators and engineer arbitrary disqualifications was a flagrant violation of parliamentary democracy and constitutional ethics. He emphasized that the Speaker must act as an impartial referee rather than a political collaborator shielding a minority ministry.
Stalin declared that such degraded, anti-democratic tactics would never save a regime that had completely forfeited the confidence of both the legislature and the people. He demanded that the Governor uphold constitutional norms by immediately directing the Chief Minister to prove his majority on the floor of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly through an open, transparent vote.
