DMK president M.K. Stalin urged the Tamil Nadu government to conduct the centenary celebrations of former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran with dignity, avoiding partisan propaganda and wasteful expenditure. He reminded the public that the enduring friendship between DMK patriarch Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi and MGR transcended narrow political differences throughout their shared public journeys in cinema, social reform, and state governance over several memorable decades.
Stalin observed that official memorial events funded by taxpayers ought to honor the historical contributions and artistic legacy of former leaders rather than serve as forums for partisan rhetoric. He advised ruling party leaders to respect democratic decorum and celebrate MGR's centenary by prioritizing substantive public welfare rather than empty theatrical displays, aggressive partisan posturing, and taxpayer-funded political posturing across public platforms.
Stalin emphasized that genuine political leadership respects stalwarts across ideological divides while exercising prudent stewardship of public revenues. He called upon the administration to ensure that concluding centenary functions reflected cultural grace, mutual respect, and authentic public service instead of squandering state financial resources on partisan self-promotion, unlawful hoardings, and unseemly political abuse directed at opposition parties.
