DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for providing political refuge to Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Inspector General Murugan following serious sexual harassment allegations submitted by a woman Superintendent of Police. He observed that shielding a high-ranking officer accused of workplace misconduct reflects complete administrative disregard for women's dignity, personal safety, and professional rights across Tamil Nadu.
Stalin noted that when the head of the state government protects an accused senior police official instead of initiating impartial disciplinary proceedings, it damages morale across the entire police department. He pointed out that female officers, government employees, and ordinary citizens lose faith in state protection when statutory grievance mechanisms are deliberately subverted by political rulers seeking mutual cover and institutional secrecy.
Stalin demanded immediate penal action against the accused officer under appropriate legal statutes without executive interference or administrative leniency. He affirmed that the DMK remains committed to defending women's workplace safety and administrative fairness, warning that the state government cannot evade responsibility for subverting institutional protections and compromising public faith in law enforcement leadership across Tamil Nadu.
