DMK president M.K. Stalin criticized the Tamil Nadu government for keeping 448 newly purchased public transport buses parked idly across regional depots solely waiting for a ceremonial flag-off by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami. He pointed out that this prolonged administrative delay risked exhausting warranty periods on brand-new vehicles while commuters endured overcrowded trips, frequent fleet breakdowns, and inadequate bus services across the state every day.
Stalin condemned the administration for prioritizing personal political glorification over citizen convenience and essential public utility services. He observed that an administration that showed aggressive haste in enforcing steep passenger fare hikes displayed utter indifference when deploying procured public assets that could ease daily transport hardships for rural and urban commuters alike.
Stalin demanded that the transport department immediately deploy all 448 buses on commuter routes without waiting for ceremonial photo opportunities or executive conveniences. He stressed that public transport fleets purchased with taxpayers' money belong to the people and must operate continuously to serve students, office workers, daily-wage laborers, and rural passengers regularly dependent on state public bus connectivity for their daily livelihood needs.
