DMK president M.K. Stalin demanded that the Tamil Nadu government immediately withdraw its proposal to hike monthly bus pass fares from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,300 for commuters. He condemned the administration's relentless push to extract additional revenue from working-class citizens, noting that the regime had already imposed devastating fare increases exceeding one hundred percent earlier in the year across state transport corporations.

Stalin described the repetitive tariff increases as cruel and callous toward low-income workers, middle-class employees, and small traders who depend entirely on state-run bus networks for their daily livelihoods. He pointed out that rising fuel prices and general market inflation had already eroded household budgets, making this additional transport surcharge an unbearable financial burden on struggling families across the state.

Stalin urged the Chief Minister to adopt people-centric policies by streamlining transport corporation expenditures, arresting financial leakages, and eliminating institutional corruption rather than punishing daily bus commuters. He warned that the DMK would mobilize mass public resistance across Tamil Nadu if the state administration failed to roll back this unjustified bus pass tariff hike immediately without delay.
