DMK president M.K. Stalin condemned the horrifying mob lynching of a fifteen-year-old boy in Karur who was beaten to death by a group of villagers over alleged mobile phone theft. He stated that the brutal incident shocked the conscience of Tamil Nadu, revealing dangerous breakdown of lawful order, community safety, and basic human empathy within local communities across the region.
Stalin emphasized that if young children stray into errors or delinquency due to poverty, ignorance, or lack of parental guidance, lawful society must guide them into juvenile reform homes and rehabilitation facilities. He declared unequivocally that no individual or mob possesses the legal or moral right to take the law into their own hands and brutally execute a minor citizen.
Stalin demanded that the state police department register stringent criminal cases against all participants and instigators of the lynching, ensuring swift prosecution without political interference. He urged the government to strengthen child protection networks, address rural distress, and promote social awareness, asserting that civilized democratic societies must defend human rights and protect vulnerable children from tragic instances of lawless mob violence.
