DMK president M.K. Stalin questioned the conspicuous silence maintained by Electricity Minister P. Thangamani regarding the multi-crore bogus windmill energy billing scam unearthed in the state power sector. He reminded the minister of his previous public declaration accepting personal responsibility for any operational failures, distribution lapses, or administrative irregularities occurring within the electricity department during his tenure as cabinet minister.

Stalin observed that when presented with incontrovertible documentary evidence of fictitious energy accounting, the minister retreated into silence rather than addressing the serious allegations before the media. He pointed out that such complicit evasion demonstrated that higher political authorities were fully aware of the illicit billing practices that drained public revenues into private hands while citizen consumers faced rising tariffs and blackouts.

Stalin demanded the immediate resignation of Minister Thangamani to facilitate an unhindered, credible, and independent inquiry into the fraudulent accounting practices in TANGEDCO. He declared that administrative transparency demands ministerial accountability, warning that the DMK will continue to mobilize public opinion against corrupt practices that jeopardize Tamil Nadu's energy security, power stability, and state fiscal health across regions.
