DMK president M.K. Stalin called for the immediate invocation of the stringent National Security Act against communal culprits and anti-social elements attempting to desecrate statues of social reformer Thanthai Periyar. He emphasized that progressive democratic forces in Tamil Nadu must firmly eradicate religious extremism, asserting that state authorities have an unyielding constitutional duty to protect secular harmony, social justice heritage, and civil order across all districts without hesitation.
Stalin observed that recurring acts of vandalism against Periyar memorials were not isolated disturbances but part of a calculated conspiracy orchestrated by sectarian organizations seeking to incite communal tensions throughout Tamil Nadu. He demanded that the state police machinery act decisively by identifying the conspirators, financiers, and reactionary organizations operating behind the perpetrators of these provocative attacks on public monuments.
Stalin urged the government to employ an iron fist against extremist outfits attempting to undermine social unity and rationalist values in Tamil Nadu. He warned that the DMK will never tolerate reactionary attempts to intimidate progressive society or erode the foundational principles of self-respect, human dignity, and social equality championed by Periyar across decades of reform.
