DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for blatant nepotism and gross corruption in awarding massive World Bank-funded highway infrastructure contracts directly to his son and close relatives. He pointed out that the Chief Minister had systematically violated every procurement norm, anti-corruption guideline, and conflict-of-interest safeguard stipulated by international financial institutions, bringing severe international disrepute to Tamil Nadu and state governance.
Stalin highlighted that funneling hundreds of crores of externally funded infrastructure allocations into private family firms constituted an unprecedented abuse of public office. He observed that while external aid was intended to modernize Tamil Nadu's transport corridors and bolster regional economic connectivity, the ruling dispensation treated development capital as personal wealth to be distributed among relatives, in-laws, and cronies.
Stalin demanded a comprehensive judicial investigation into all infrastructure projects sanctioned during Palaniswami's tenure as highways minister and Chief Minister. He affirmed that the DMK will legally challenge these unlawful contract allotments before constitutional courts, vowing that those who betrayed public trust and disgraced the state will face exemplary legal punishment under the law across Tamil Nadu.
