DMK president M.K. Stalin stated that simultaneous searches conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation at the residences of Tamil Nadu Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar and Director General of Police T.K. Rajendran brought profound embarrassment to the state. The investigative raids spanned dozens of locations across Chennai and other districts, targeting premises linked to figures recorded in the Gutkha bribery diary. Stalin asserted that individuals facing direct scrutiny for facilitating banned substance trades must not remain in constitutional or police leadership.
Stalin emphasized that the presence of the state's top police chief and a sitting cabinet minister on the suspect roster of a federal probe severely undermined public confidence in the rule of law. Retaining these officials in office created severe conflicts of interest and risked compromising ongoing investigations into illicit pay-offs.
Stalin demanded their immediate resignation or summary dismissal by the Governor to preserve administrative honor. He affirmed that the DMK would maintain rigorous oversight over the legal proceedings, ensuring that institutional culpability is pursued to its logical conclusion and that public administration is purged of systemic corrupt practices across Tamil Nadu.
