DMK president M.K. Stalin condemned the aggressive political maneuvers of the Bharatiya Janata Party and its subservient state administration in targeting student researcher Lois Sofia. Stalin asserted that the ruling alliance was abusing administrative machinery to intimidate citizens and suppress free speech across Tamil Nadu. Sofia had been subjected to police complaint and arrest simply for voicing a political phrase on an airplane in the presence of BJP leaders.

Stalin pointed out that such authoritarian intolerance violated basic constitutional freedoms guaranteed to every Indian citizen under democratic rule of law. Using the coercive apparatus of the state against an unarmed scholar highlighted the moral fragility of the political establishment. He stressed that silencing legitimate public expression through police action set a damaging precedent that threatened democratic discourse and scholarly pursuits throughout the country.

Stalin urged the state government to dismiss the criminal case against Sofia immediately so she could continue her doctoral research in Canada without harassment. He reaffirmed that the DMK would firmly resist all attempts to crush democratic dissent, safeguarding constitutional liberties and the dignity of Tamil youth from political oppression.
