DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the brazen death threats issued against Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi general secretary and prominent writer D. Ravikumar, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible. Stalin called upon the Tamil Nadu government and the state police department to provide comprehensive security arrangements for Ravikumar immediately. He stressed that law enforcement agencies must nip violent extremist elements in the bud to preserve social harmony, public tranquility, and civil safety throughout Tamil Nadu.
Stalin pointed out that intimidating writers, intellectuals, and progressive political leaders who champion democratic values and marginalized communities undermines civilized public discourse. Intimidation tactics designed to muzzle independent thought and political activism cannot be tolerated in an orderly society governed by the rule of law. A government that fails to protect outspoken public intellectuals displays weakness and encourages lawlessness.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK firmly supports progressive voices standing up for social equality, free expression, and mutual respect among communities. He insisted that the state administration demonstrate institutional impartiality by taking prompt, exemplary legal action against miscreants attempting to disrupt communal concord in the state.
