DMK president M.K. Stalin urged the Governor of Tamil Nadu to intervene decisively and dismiss state Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar from the council of ministers over serious bribery charges in the Gutkha scam. Stalin stated that Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami was hesitating to dismiss Vijayabaskar because the Chief Minister himself faced multiple corruption investigations regarding highway department contract allocations. Under such compromised circumstances, Stalin asserted that constitutional propriety required the Governor to act independently to protect administrative integrity across the state.

Stalin highlighted that keeping a minister facing severe criminal allegations in charge of critical public health portfolios eroded public faith in government institutions. Documentary evidence submitted before judicial bodies and investigative agencies clearly implicated Vijayabaskar in accepting illicit gratification from banned tobacco manufacturers. Allowing him to remain in office posed an acute risk of witness tampering and evidence manipulation.

Stalin declared that the DMK would persistently expose the moral paralysis gripping the state cabinet.
