DMK president M.K. Stalin severely criticized Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration Minister S.P. Velumani for brazen irregularities in awarding crucial Smart City software development contracts to an unqualified sheet-metal manufacturing company. Stalin revealed that advanced technological contracts for developing city governance mobile applications and central command dashboards were forcibly assigned to a firm with zero background in information technology, solely due to its intimate commercial ties to the minister.
Stalin warned that such absurd, nepotistic contract awards would completely derail the infrastructure development and technological integration of ten designated Smart Cities across Tamil Nadu. Instead of modernizing urban management through expert digital solutions, public funds allocated for smart municipal administration were being squandered through unqualified surrogate entities.
Stalin asserted that compromising civic data security and municipal software architecture to enrich political favorites was a hazardous dereliction of executive duty. He demanded the immediate cancellation of these fraudulent procurement awards and called for a comprehensive technical audit of all Smart City tenders. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will persistently protect urban development projects from partisan looting and administrative subversion across the state.
