DMK president M.K. Stalin pointed out that aging masonry structures, regulators, and storage reservoirs required immediate, comprehensive engineering audits to avert potential catastrophic breaches during torrential monsoon seasons. He emphasized that the state administration must implement the recommendations of such an expert panel promptly through time-bound rehabilitation works.

Stalin observed that public safety and agrarian water security depend heavily on robust dam infrastructure. Neglecting structural maintenance, periodic desilting, and hydraulic testing exposed downstream agricultural communities and rural populations to immense danger and severe property destruction.

Stalin called upon the public works department and water resources authorities to formulate a scientific maintenance protocol supported by adequate budgetary allocations rather than reactive public relations statements. He affirmed that an incoming DMK administration would treat water resource preservation and reservoir safety as strategic state priorities, modernizing hydraulic infrastructure to secure the drinking water and irrigation lifelines of Tamil Nadu for generations to come.
