On the occasion of Chennai Day, DMK president M.K. Stalin paid glowing tribute to the visionary architect of modern Chennai, Muthamizharignar Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi. Stalin commemorated Kalaignar's unparalleled contributions in shaping the historic capital into a vibrant global metropolis while celebrating its rich Tamil cultural heritage. Under Kalaignar's visionary leadership, iconic urban landmarks were conceived and established, blending forward-looking modernity with timeless cultural pride across the sprawling city.
Stalin recalled Kalaignar's transformative infrastructure initiatives, including the creation of planned residential townships like Anna Nagar, the architectural marvel of Valluvar Kottam, the pioneering Anna Flyover, and the world-class Anna Centenary Library. Kalaignar catalyzed the information technology revolution in Tamil Nadu by establishing TIDEL Park, while enriching civic green spaces through Semmozhi Poonga and advancing digital language research through the Tamil Virtual Academy.
Stalin observed that Chennai's contemporary skyline and socioeconomic vibrancy stand as permanent testaments to Kalaignar's creative governance. He pledged that the DMK will continue to modernize urban infrastructure, expand public transit, and nurture inclusive civic spaces, ensuring that Chennai remains an egalitarian, dynamic, and welcoming global gateway for all citizens.
