DMK leader M.K. Stalin demanded immediate clarity from the Election Commission of India, the Tamil Nadu government, and the Chief Secretary regarding the official report detailing Income Tax raids conducted during the RK Nagar assembly by-election. Warning against administrative cover-ups, Stalin insisted that authorities must publish full details of the findings without suppressive delays. He emphasized that the public possesses an indisputable right to know what evidence was unearthed during official searches.
Drawing a sharp comparison with past administrative lapses, Stalin recalled how an earlier Income Tax Department dossier on the multi-crore Gutkha bribery scam had mysteriously vanished from the Chief Secretary's office. He cautioned that similar foul play must not recur to shield politically influential figures implicated in corrupt practices. Such vanishing documents severely compromised democratic faith and degraded the constitutional credibility of key administrative institutions.
Stalin urged constitutional watchdogs to uphold transparency and enforce legal accountability against electoral malpractice. He affirmed that the DMK would remain vigilant against institutional collusion, ensuring that electoral wrongdoing is not swept under the carpet. Protecting democratic integrity requires prompt legal action rather than bureaucratic silence or evasive procedures.
