DMK leader M.K. Stalin announced that extensive memorial gatherings would be organized across five major metropolitan centers to honor the enduring legacy of party patriarch and former Chief Minister Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi. Stalin paid tribute to the Dravidian stalwart for decisively turning the gaze of northern political circles toward southern regional aspirations and embedding constitutional social justice ideals firmly on the national agenda.

The commemorative gatherings were planned to bring together leading luminaries from diverse fields, including national politics, cinema, literature, and journalism. Stalin noted that Karunanidhi had dedicated over seven decades to transforming public democratic consciousness through literature, statecraft, and bold legislative action, securing pioneering backward class reservations and elevating historically oppressed communities. The memorial meetings aimed to celebrate his profound intellectual contributions, cultural eloquence, and democratic resistance against authoritarian centralism.
