DMK leader M.K. Stalin condemned the AIADMK administration for prohibiting the peaceful foot march organized by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) against the controversial Chennai-Salem eight-lane greenfield expressway project. Denouncing the official ban as completely anti-democratic, Stalin welcomed the resolve of the left party cadres who chose to proceed with their march despite authoritarian police restrictions. On behalf of the DMK, he extended wholehearted wishes for the success of their agrarian struggle.

Stalin pointed out that thousands of farmers across Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, and Tiruvannamalai districts faced massive dispossession of their fertile agricultural holdings, mango orchards, and rural homes for the expressway project. Rather than engaging in constructive dialogue with affected agrarian families, the state machinery had deployed coercive force, preventive arrests, and protest bans to silence public dissent. Stalin emphasized that suppressing peaceful civil demonstrations violates fundamental democratic liberties enshrined in the Constitution.

Stalin reiterated that the DMK firmly opposes projects that sacrifice agrarian livelihoods and environmental stability for commercial exploitation. He called upon the state government to halt forceful land acquisitions and respect democratic opposition across Tamil Nadu.
