DMK leader M.K. Stalin welcomed the Madras High Court directive instructing investigative agencies to expedite their ongoing inquiry into disproportionate assets allegations against Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam. Asserting that high public officials must maintain absolute financial integrity, Stalin demanded that Panneerselvam immediately resign from his constitutional position while facing statutory anti-corruption proceedings. He insisted that holding executive office while subject to serious graft inquiries severely compromises institutional neutrality.
Stalin stressed that if the Deputy Chief Minister refused to step down voluntarily on moral grounds, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami was constitutionally obligated to advise the Governor to dismiss him from the cabinet forthwith. Allowing tainted ministers to retain power enables potential interference with investigative processes and erodes public faith in state vigilance mechanisms. He pointed out that prolonged administrative inaction over verified corruption complaints reflects blatant disregard for legal decorum.
Stalin declared that the DMK would continue to pursue uncompromising accountability through legal avenues and public campaigns. He affirmed that democratic governance must serve the people with complete transparency rather than functioning as an instrument for private self-enrichment and administrative impunity.
