DMK leader M.K. Stalin demanded that the Tamil Nadu government immediately recover massive revenue losses caused by illicit mineral sand extraction by imposing heavy penalties on 52 illegal beach sand quarries identified during official inquiries. Condemning the Chief Minister for allegedly negotiating backroom deals to sanction fresh mining operations amid serious ecological violations, Stalin insisted that no new permits should be granted under any circumstances to commercial miners plundering coastal reserves.
Stalin underscored that unregulated coastal mineral mining had caused irreparable ecological destruction across southern districts while depriving the state treasury of immense mineral revenues. Official investigations had clearly established that private operators extracted vast volumes of valuable atomic and heavy minerals far beyond permissible limits. Allowing commercial syndicates to operate with impunity while attempting to grant fresh licenses demonstrated complete disregard for environmental preservation and the rule of law.
Stalin asserted that natural coastal resources belong to the public and must be protected from ruthless exploitation. He affirmed that the DMK will persistently fight in defense of coastal ecosystems and demand strict statutory punishment against mining barons and their political protectors.
