DMK leader M.K. Stalin personally called on Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit at Raj Bhavan to submit a detailed formal complaint demanding criminal prosecution against Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Stalin presented documentary evidence demonstrating how the Chief Minister had systematically abused his official position to award multi-thousand crore rupee highway procurement contracts to his close relatives and proxy business associates.
Stalin emphasized that the Highways Department, directly controlled by the Chief Minister, had systematically manipulated public bidding guidelines, inflated estimates, and suppressed competitive tenders to favor a tight-knit circle of family-linked contractors. The unearthing of immense cash reserves and illicit assets during contemporaneous tax raids on these contractors substantiated the allegations of rampant institutional graft. Stalin pointed out that such blatant nepotism destroyed procurement integrity and drained the state exchequer of critical public development funds.
Stalin urged the Governor to exercise his constitutional duties by sanctioning an independent statutory investigation to hold the Chief Minister accountable. He affirmed that the DMK remains resolute in fighting institutional corruption and ensuring clean, transparent administration for the people of Tamil Nadu.
