When I raised this issue on 04.07.2018, I said that ADMK Govt has failed to protect the states' rights. Edapadi Palaniswami has since registered a pseudo-protest by writing a letter to PM and then following it with ADMK's wholehearted support for BJP in the No Confidence Motion.
DMK leader M.K. Stalin criticized the ruling AIADMK government for betraying the fundamental rights and autonomy of Tamil Nadu by voting in total support of the BJP-led Union government during the parliamentary no-confidence motion. Stalin recalled his warning from earlier that month asserting that the state administration was utterly incapable of defending regional interests. He characterized Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami's token letter to the Prime Minister as a deceptive, cosmetic charade immediately contradicted by the party's unconditional parliamentary support.
Stalin emphasized that the Union government had consistently infringed upon state jurisdiction regarding river disputes, language rights, devolution of financial revenues under GST, and centralizing medical entrance examinations. Instead of leveraging parliamentary voting power to extract firm commitments on pressing state demands, the AIADMK legislators chose subservience to central rulers to protect their fragile governing coalition and shield corrupt leadership from scrutiny.
Stalin asserted that the DMK will persistently defend the self-respect, fiscal sovereignty, and federal rights of Tamil Nadu. He affirmed that genuine political leadership requires steadfast courage to challenge centralizing overreach rather than compromising state dignity for petty political survival.
