DMK leader M.K. Stalin issued a sharp rebuke against the Union BJP government on July 8, 2018, condemning its move to computerize the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test through the newly formed National Testing Agency. Stalin declared that digitizing medical entrance examinations places an intolerable burden on rural and underprivileged students lacking computer facilities and internet connectivity. He cautioned that rural candidates would teach the ruling dispensation a lasting electoral lesson if the policy stood.
Tamil Nadu has consistently opposed standardized national entrance testing, arguing that standardized testing erodes state autonomy and systematically discriminates against regional-curriculum students from modest economic backgrounds. Stalin noted that rural candidates already struggle against linguistic barriers and urban coaching monopolies. Forcing them to navigate computerized examination software without adequate infrastructure or prior training erects an insurmountable hurdle to medical education.
Stalin demanded that the Centre immediately scrap the computerized testing plan and dismantle institutional barriers in medical admissions. He urged policymakers to preserve equal access for disadvantaged communities aspiring to join medical colleges. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will persistently defend the educational rights of state board students against discriminatory central policies.
