DMK leader M.K. Stalin underscored the critical importance of swift judicial outcomes on June 14, 2018, emphasizing that citizens maintain profound faith in the courts to protect democratic principles and the rule of law. Stalin stated that when vital constitutional and legislative questions face prolonged delays, the very essence of justice is compromised. He reminded judicial authorities of the timeless maxim that justice delayed is justice denied, warning that excessive delays render eventual relief entirely ineffective.
Tamil Nadu was then experiencing significant constitutional uncertainty surrounding the disqualification of eighteen legislators and prolonged legislative disputes affecting the stability of the state government. Stalin observed that when executive authorities violate constitutional norms or legislative conventions, the public turns to the judiciary as the ultimate guarantor of fair play. Prolonged adjudication in such sensitive political matters inadvertently benefits illegitimate executive regimes, depriving citizens of transparent governance and accountable legislative oversight.
Stalin expressed earnest hope that the judiciary would recognize the urgency of safeguarding constitutional governance through decisive, well-reasoned verdicts. He stressed that preserving democratic vitality requires timely judicial intervention. Stalin affirmed that the DMK remains committed to upholding judicial sanctity while advocating for institutional efficiency.
