In the Assembly and outside, @CMOTamilNadu had no answers to our questions based on media revelations. CM & DGP are complicit in planning and executing #ThoothukudiShooting. Their 'web of lies' can only be exposed by a CBI enquiry, not an eye-wash commission.
DMK leader M.K. Stalin launched a searing critique of the state administration on June 7, 2018, stating that Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami had completely failed to provide credible answers in the Legislative Assembly regarding the Thoothukudi police massacre. Stalin asserted that investigative media revelations clearly established that the Chief Minister and the Director General of Police were complicit in planning and executing the lethal police firing. He demanded an immediate Central Bureau of Investigation enquiry to expose the administration's web of lies.
The tragic police firing during anti-Sterlite demonstrations on May 22 had claimed thirteen lives and left scores critically injured. Video footage and investigative reports revealed plainclothes police snipers positioning themselves on police vans and systematically aiming automatic weapons at fleeing protesters. Stalin pointed out that the one-man commission of inquiry appointed by the state government served merely as an administrative eye-wash designed to shield culpable police commanders and executive superiors from criminal liability.
Stalin insisted that only an independent court-monitored CBI probe could uncover who issued the unprovoked shoot-to-kill orders. He stated that state authorities cannot evade criminal accountability through fabricated administrative explanations. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will persistently demand justice for the bereaved Thoothukudi families.
