#NeetKillsPradeeba
DMK leader M.K. Stalin expressed intense outrage on June 5, 2018, holding the Union and Tamil Nadu governments directly accountable for the tragic deaths of medical aspirants. Stalin lamented that after losing Ariyalur student Anitha to the pressures of NEET, the state now mourned the tragic suicide of Pradeeba in Viluppuram. He fiercely condemned both governments for callously ignoring Tamil Nadu's unanimous demand for exemption from the centralized medical entrance test.
The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly had unanimously passed legislation seeking permanent exemption from NEET to protect the dreams of state board students. Despite widespread public consensus and bipartisan legislative support, the Union government withheld presidential assent while the AIADMK ministry failed to assert state interests. Stalin pointed out that this joint administrative betrayal subjected hundreds of thousands of hardworking rural students to unbearable academic stress, driving gifted students from humble backgrounds to fatal despair.
Stalin asserted that the loss of young lives cannot be dismissed as individual tragedies, but as systemic failures of uncaring administrations. He demanded that both governments immediately take responsibility for these preventable deaths. Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK will persistently champion the state's collective demand until NEET is completely abolished.
