DMK leader M.K. Stalin expressed heartbreaking grief on June 5, 2018, upon learning of the tragic suicide of student Pradeeba, whose medical aspirations were abruptly shattered by NEET. Stalin lamented that the ruthless weapon of standardized testing had cruelly claimed yet another promising young life in Tamil Nadu. He conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, observing that news of her death inflicted an agonizing wound on the conscience of the entire state.
Pradeeba had demonstrated extraordinary academic dedication, securing an outstanding 1125 marks out of 1200 in her state higher secondary board examinations. Coming from an underprivileged rural family, she studied diligently under the state curriculum with the aspiration of becoming a doctor to serve her community. Stalin noted that reducing years of school excellence to an alien entrance test destroyed her medical dreams. Her inability to pay for elite commercial coaching proved fatal under this rigid national admission system.
Stalin declared that a testing framework that extinguishes the lives of brilliant, hardworking students stands fundamentally condemned. He called for an immediate end to this exclusionary medical admission process. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will continue to fight relentlessly to ensure justice for every aspiring student.
